While hundreds of riders descended on Bega for the Showjumping Cup, a trio of Cobargo Pony Club riders have scored great results at the Australian Pony Club Queensland State Championships.

Held in Millmerran, there were more than 230 competitors daily with the local trio of Alena Duncan riding Piper, Zali Duncan riding Splash and Olivia Olsen riding Dynamite as part of the NSW squad.
The trio contested the Formal and Sporting Gymkhana classes. In the formal event, Olivia finished first in the running tee and runner-up in the stockhorse race for U14s.
Meanwhile, Zali finishing second in the AM7 showjump, second in the three-mug race, second in Scudaho, third in the stockhorse race, fourth in running tee and fourth overall in the age championship.
Alena contested the nine and under age bracket and secured first in the stockhorse race, first in three-mug, first in running tee, second in Scudaho, fourth in the showjumping and eighth in Pony Club Mount.
Her combined results netted Alena the state age championship, which officials said was a mammoth effort. She received a gold medallion and a new horse rug.
Olivia placed first in the barrel race, third in flags and secured a top 10 finish in the under 15 age championship.
Zali scored a first place finish in the Bonfield Bounce, second in the flag race, third in cloverleaf, third in sporting figure eight, fifth in the barrel race and eighth in drum and peg to secure the reserve state age championship for under 13s.
Alena placed first in cloverlead, second in flags, fourth in bending, fourth in the barrel race, seventh in diamond flags and finished fourth overall in the under 11s age championships.
A spokeswoman for the Cobargo Pony Club commended the three girls on their results and said it was "an outstanding achievement in such a fierce competition at an elite level".
"For such a small pony club to have three of our members perform so well is something our club is very proud of."
Zali has now been selected as part of the NSW State Team to compete at the National Championships, which will run at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre this week.
