On Saturday, Bombala Golf Club members played a stableford for club trophy.
Wayne scored a round of two under par 69 off the stick, including one bogey and three birdies.
He has been close on a number of occasions during the year, but finally held his nerve and was extremely happy when he walked off the 17th with a par.
He told himself on the 18th green "if I miss the putt I will equal the record - if I sink it I have done it".
