The bridge replacement project now offers a widened bridge, increased freight load capacity and improved safety features. Located on the Delegate Road, the bridge is an important part of the Snowy Monaro transport network.

The bridge's replacement was made possible through funding streams from all tiers of government - Federal Government's Bridge Renewal Program Round One, NSW Government's Restart NSW Fixing Country Roads Program, and Snowy Monaro Regional Council.

"It's fantastic to see this project completed, it's a great example of local, state and federal governments coming together in the best interests of the community," Snowy Monaro Mayor Peter Beer said.

The initial scope of work included a detailed structural analysis and design options for widening the bridge.

Member for Monaro and NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the NSW Government provided $247,500 to strengthen and widen Parsonage Creek Bridge, to maintain the important timber route.

"I'm thrilled to see Parsonage Creek Bridge reopen. This is an important project for Bombala and surrounds and I am pleased to see this project delivered, thanks to all three tiers of government working together," Mr Barilaro said.

"Our local economy struggles when our roads and bridges aren't up to task of carrying freight in an efficient and cost effective manner. This upgrade will maintain heavy vehicle access on what is an important route for the timber business."

Further investigations determined that replacing the bridge in its entirety was the most viable option.

"Council's commitment to achieving the construction was demonstrated via a contribution of over $1million in additional funding," Cr Beer said.

"This has resulted in the bridge asset meeting both T44 and SM1600 design standards, enabling current and future transport needs to be met on behalf of the community."

An official opening to celebrate the completion will be held in early November.
