Lavender enjoyed ballads from a young age and loves songs about our country and outback stories and listening to older style country songs.
He has toured and released albums alongside his son as Hot Country, but is also well known for his multiple solo bush ballad albums.
Currently residing in Gippsland Victoria, McKenna writes and sings about our land and its people.
His early life in the back country of NSW droving cattle, working as a stockman and in shearing sheds, spending time in remote mining sites and the varied characters he met have all contributed to his music and books. The title track on his album Spirit of the Land won Tamworth Songwriters Country Ballad of the Year award on its release.
Head along this Saturday, October 19, from 7.30pm, supper provided, lucky door prize and raffle. Tickets $20 at the door. Inquiries to Karen on 0408 429 402.
