About 3.30am on December 31 emergency services were called to the 84-year-old's home after reports he had suffered burns.
He was taken to the South East Regional Hospital before being transferred to Concord Hospital in Sydney.
Police said the man died early Saturday, January 18, and they were waiting for a report by the coroner on whether or not to include the man's death in the state's number of fatalities attributed to the bushfire emergency.
