A grass fire ignited 200 metres west of the Moruya Hospital and fire crews worked quickly to contain it.
Surgeon Dr Michael Holland said the hospital had activated its emergency plan and staff were well trained.
Fire swept through the Bumbo Creek area north-west of Bodalla in the mid-afternoon and crews were fighting to prevent it reaching the coast at Turlinjah and Tuross Head.
The Rural Fire service has given the following advice:
Bumbo, Eurobodalla and Bodalla
There is an immediate threat to properties. It is too late to leave.
Seek shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
Areas from Moruya to Tuross Head, and Wallaga Lake, Akolele, Bermagui and Coolagolite
