Knitters called upon to be part of a creative community project

Snowy Monaro Community Connections is offering an opportunity to be part of a creative art installation often referred to as 'Yarn Bombing'.

A 'Yarn Bomb' is a form of street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn to adorn an object in the public environment.

During this complex time, it is important to continue to feel part of a caring community and creating art is a wonderful way to relax and de-stress.

We are hoping to brighten people's day by adding some warmth and whimsy to trees across our region over the next few months.

Anyone that is a keen knitter or enjoys crochet can be involved. We would really appreciate squares, circles, diamonds or triangles (up to 30cm x 30cm in size), the more colourful the better.

Flowers and pompoms will also add to our creative Forest Fashion display!

Snowy Monaro Community Connections has kits available which include yarn in bright and cheerful colours, patterns for inspiration and knitting needles or crochet hooks if required.

We will arrange to drop off of kits to your door and collection of your artwork once completed.

Please note there are some eligibility criteria for supply of kits.

For more information or if you would like to be involved in this exciting project please phone Snowy Monaro Community Connections on 6455 4000.
