Snowy Monaro Regional Council will temporarily close community facilities throughout the region following further COVID-19 restrictions announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Council-operated halls, visitor centres, the Cooma Hub and Snowy Monaro Regional Library shut their doors from midnight on Wednesday.
The closures affect the Bombala and Cooma Libraries, Bombala Platypus Country Information Centre, Cooma Visitors Centre, Cooma Hub, the Cooma Saleyards and all halls in the Snowy Monaro.
"It's a difficult time for residents in the Snowy Monaro region and throughout our country. These are tough restrictions the Federal Government has announced but ones that are necessary to ensure we fight the spread of COVID-19 throughout our communities," Snowy Monaro Regional Council mayor Peter Beer said.
"We've come through bush fires and floods, and if we work together we will navigate our way through this."
"I urge people to maintain their social distancing, wash their hands and follow the advice from our health officials."
Council had already brought the pool season to an end with the Cooma swimming pool closing a week earlier than scheduled.
All face-to-face community engagement events have been cancelled in the interests of the community's health and safety.
Council is looking at additional online engagement options to allow the community to have its say on items out on public exhibition.
The Cooma and Jindabyne Scrapmart facilities have also been closed until further notice.
