The Parish Council of Bombala's St Matthias Church have taken the opportunity to carry out maintenance on the historic building that held its first service on December 4, 1857.

Representative for the St Matthias Parish Council, Peter Platts said there were a number of repairs needed to the 163 year old church which had been deteriorating for the last 10 years
"There were issues with the flashing which had deteriorated and we needed repairs to the roof.
"Also the lime mortar that the church was built with was starting to deteriorate which was allowing water to enter the roofing so we have installed ridge capping.
"COVID-19 put an end to church services a while ago however we are hoping to return to services on July 5 subject COVID-19 rules and regulations," he said.
