COVID-19 is having an effect on the Bombala Golf Club, with a regular player stuck on the Victorian side of the border.
Jean McLean lives just over the Victorian border, but is currently not permitted to travel to Bombala to play golf given the restrictions on travel between the states.
Jean, who is nearly blind and can no longer read or do her jigsaw puzzles, really enjoys her weekly game of golf, so this is a big blow.
The club looks forward to having Jean back when things change. Stay safe Jean.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the ladies played a flag event for the L Johnson Trophy.
The morning started out with a very heavy frost and then the thick fog rolled in.
When the ladies teed off they were still in fog and it was very cold. The sun didn't shine until about the eighth hole, then it was a most enjoyable day.
Gay Kennedy, who had to have a break from golf for six weeks much to her disgust, had a good day carrying the flag to just short of the 17th green and winning the trophy. Well done Gay and good to have you back.
Ball winners were Di Ingram 83 nett and Betty Crawford 88. NTP on the 13th was Gay Kennedy.
There were small fields over the weekend for the members with a couple of regular golfers competing in the Tathra Open.
On Sunday they were back early when the coast was lucky enough to get a lot of rain.
Saturday was a three stick event for club trophy.
Wayne Elton continued with his winning streak coming in with 33 points.
Balls were won by Wayne and Korie Elton on 32. NTP on the 17th was won by Brad Yelds.
Conditions are still tough on the course with the wash from the rain last week, it is a case of hit and hope as you are not sure what way the ball will bounce.
After a beautiful day Saturday, Sunday was a complete change with rain and turning very cold.
A small field braved the conditions playing a stroke for the Monthly Medal.
One group decided they had had enough after nine holes and pulled the pin.
The winner of the medal with a very good round of 68 nett was Ross Brown. Ross has not been hitting the ball well of late and he was extremely happy to come in the winner.
Balls went to Ross and Pepper Thompson on 75 nett. NTP on the 17th went to Pepper Thompson.
