Its shadow will pass briefly over Bibbenluke as the 248 kilometre wide asteroid passes in front of a star to the west of the village.
There’s no risk involved, no likelihood of a collision and you won’t get showered with stardust as the asteroid is at a safe distance of some 50,000km from our planet.
But it’s history in the making for Bibbenluke, so you would be more than welcome to witness the astronomers as they film this event, continuing to make a catalogue of objects that do fly past our planet.
The catalogue will be used to map the pathways of asteroids and meteor showers - they’ll probably have to introduce traffic lights in space once they find out just how many objects are whizzing by out there!
