When first we reported on the exciting occurrence, there was only one known witness who saw the meteorite on the afternoon of August 17.
Many had heard the landing, but none had seen it apart from the one witness who watched it pass across the sky in Craigie.
This meant that when visiting Research Geologist, Andy Tomkins came to try and find the meteorite, he was not able to get enough solid information to triangulate a position, and the search was abandoned.
Later, we were able to put Dr Tomkins in touch with another man who had seen the meteorite pass over in Deddick, and this increased the chances of a successful search.
Now we have heard from a lady in Jindabyne who also saw the meteorite, describing in great detail the fascinating sight.
The Jindabyne resident said she saw a big black object, then a fireball which started burning across the sky with a brighter burning tail.
She was able to watch it for several moments before it disappeared, and was very excited about the once in a lifetime opportunity to view the occurrence.
Naturally she too is more than happy to help Dr Tomkins in his search for the meteorite, and through our connections has invited him to visit her property in Jindabyne.
We will keep readers informed of any further developments in the search.
