Victorian fire crisis is too close to home

THE worst weather conditions since the devastating bush fires on Black Saturday in February 2009 put Victoria in a state of emergency and sent fear through Bombala and other towns close to the state border at the weekend.

Bombala was clouded by smoke from the Victorian fires as the base camp for firefighters at Delegate swung into full action and local businesses helped with the massive firefighting effort by providing meals.

Debbie and Mark Gaunson from Linga Longa, were among a number of cafe owners who supplied meals for the weary firefighters
