Year 12 graduates from Lumen Christi Catholic College kicked up their heels in the company of teachers, parents and carers at Club Sapphire on Friday, November 14. The pressure of the past year’s study and exams was put behind them as students, dressed in their finery, enjoyed the evening’s dinner, speeches, awards and dancing.

The award-winners for 2014 were:
* Spirit awards (recognition of unique contribution to the Lumen community) Zoe Stewart, Hugh Jesina, Ryan Kelly, Stuart Baird and Sarah Foley.
* Principals awards for service through leadership: college captains and vice captains – Chloe Copas, Tom Baker, Kirsty MacKinnon and Louis Chaleyer-Gray.
* Light of Christ award for inspiration to others through service and Christian living whilst at LCCC –Tom Baker
* Sporting award for exceptional contribution to sport – Stephen Thresher
* Cultural award for exceptional contribution to the creative and performing arts -Joe Lipsham
* All rounder award for considerable contribution to academic, cultural, sporting and service – Lynx Van Den Brink
* Unique contribution award for exceptional contribution by a student to both the college and wider community –Nick Marshall
* Paul Carroll service award, for exceptional contribution by a student in the area of service –Sarah Mayberry and Kirsty MacKinnon
* Long Tan award for recognising leadership and teamwork within the school and wider community – Kosta Dracopoulos
Year 12 co-ordinator Scott Lipsham described the night, attended by over 250 people, as a wonderful night enjoyed by all who attended.
The students looked fantastic and it was a fitting and deserved finish to a very significant and often arduous period of their school lives, he said. Scott also acknowledged the work of a great team in preparation for the night, notably Barb Gough, Terrianne Ryan and Adrian Wels.
There were thanks to members of the staff band ‘Dribz’n’Drabz’ - Cindy Dibley, Tracey Hughes-Butters, Colin Butters, Dave Hibbert, Joe Fragnito and Scott Lipsham. The school also thanked Club Sapphire and said the auditorium looked fantastic thanks to the team at Whitbys Florist, Pambula.
The school wished all Year 12 students of 2014 all the very best for the future and especially in the coming weeks as they travel safely enjoying the forthcoming activities.
