Monaro Transconnect is a service for all people living independently in the communities of Snowy-River, Cooma-Monaro and Bombala local government areas; it is intended to improve transport options for residents in these shires and to reduce transport disadvantage.
It is an initiative that allows for residents to have improved transport access to the greater ACT region. You do not have to be frail aged or have a disability to use the Transconnect service.
Unfortunately due to patronage levels the service has been reduced from a five day per week service to a three day per week service; now operating on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays.
However, due to requests for other stops Queanbeyan Hospital and the Kingston Railway Station have now been added to the Transconnect schedule.
Changes to the schedule are outlined below.
Morning Schedule:
The service picks up at Delegate Post Office at 6.25am, Bombala Community Centre at 7am and at Bibbenluke Hall at 7.15am. It then travels through to Cooma arriving at 8.10am and then travels to the following destinations -
9.45am Queanbeyan Hospital; 10.15am Westfield Woden; 10.25am The Canberra Hospital; 10.40am John James Hospital; 10.55am Kingston Railway; 11.10am Jolimont Centre Civic; 11.25am Canberra Airport.
Afternoon Schedule:
1pm Queanbeyan Hospital; 1.15pm Canberra Airport; 1.30pm Jolimont Centre Civic; 1.45pm Kingston Railway; 2pm John James Hospital; 2.15pm The Canberra Hospital; 2.25pm Westfield Woden.
The service generally arrives back in Cooma by 3.30pm/4pm (depending on passenger bookings and venues and then continues onto Bombala and Delegate if required.
The Monaro Transconnect project is a partnership between Bombala Council, Cooma Monaro Shire Council, Snowy River Shire Council and Transport for NSW.
It is a two year pilot project that commenced in March 2014. If you would like to know more about the service or to book a seat on the bus please call 6458 4620.
Bookings are required one business day in advance of the intended date of travel and bookings close at 2pm.
