THE Lions Club and community members have commenced the erection of sculptures around the river walking track to add to the attractions of the track.
This project has been made possible through a generous Southern Phone Grant and the keen interest of the creators of these sculptures.
The first sculpture has been erected in Lions Gunnago Park and represents the rising sun. The rifle sculpture by the same maker will also go in the park nearby.
Others will be situated around the track and will have a rural theme.
The Lions Club would like to invite any graziers who have old cattle or sheep branding irons and who would like to make them available, to come and brand the timber of a sculpture at an event at the project’s completion.
Please contact the staff in the Landmark office if you wish to participate so Lions can contact you.
Lions would like to thank the community for their financial and in kind support throughout the past year. Funds have been distributed to various charities and organisations, the main one being $2000 to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
The Club should be very active during the next year as we have to complete the walking track at the top bridge and build the disabled access ramp from the Caravan Park to the walking track which has been subsidised by the grant from the State Govemment, and we welcome any community members to come along and give a hand.
