Its 100 years since the recruitment of “Men from Snowy River” for WW1 meeting was held in the Bungarby School of Arts Hall, on November 22, 1915. It was reported that seven local men were recruited but only six are recorded.

They were James McCracken Denholm, Glynn Moulton Fisk joined march at Cooma ‘killed in action’, D J O’Rouke, Norman Christian Rankin (joined march at Bombala), William Walter Sloan (marched from Delegate) and Charles William Smith.
The community held a sports day which raised 100 pounds for the war effort.
A commemorative gathering is organised to remember and recognise these men and others that left from Bungarby to fight in WW1. So please come to the grounds of the Bungarby Memorial Hall, Bungarby Road, Bungarby on Sunday, November 22 arrival 11.30 for 12 noon service followed by a sausage barbecue lunch, tea and coffee. There will be a donation asked of $5 per head to cover costs.
In addition a static display is planned to be set up in the Hall. The display will be of information on the WW1 Bungarby men listed on the Honour roll.
