A 22-year-old Bendigo woman has died in a car crash in Moama and the driver of the vehicle airlifted to hospital.
The hatchback was travelling along Perricoota Road just before 3am today when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
The 19-year-old female driver, also from Bendigo, has been airlifted to the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne with serious injuries. Her current condition is not known.
The passenger died at the scene. Whilst she has not yet been formally identified, she is believed to be a 22-year-old, also from Bendigo.
Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
Moama Police Acting Inspector Trent Swinton said it was believed the deceased woman and the driver were in the area for the Southern 80 Ski Race.
During the week, authorities raised concerns about the safety of the thousands of visitors expected to attend the water skiing event this weekend.
