Bombala residents will have access to the free service that involves individual consultations with an accredited exercise physiologist and certified wellness coach.
Kate Greenwood, Health Promotion Officer at Grand Pacific Health, says the service is recommended for people who are finding it difficult to make the necessary lifestyle changes to improve their overall health.
“This service is best suited to people who are overweight and/or insufficiently physically active and/or who have or are at risk of chronic health problems such as type 2 diabetes,” Ms Greenwood said.
“Having access to a wellness coach means that individuals can work out their health goals, overcome barriers to achieving these goals and together create a plan for action.”
The service has already started in Jindabyne and will also be starting up in Cooma in the near future. The Bombala service will be ongoing for the remainder of 2016.
“Our aim is to work with individuals on an ongoing basis to facilitate long-term and sustainable changes to live a healthy lifestyle,” Ms Greenwood said.
Participants are provided with one-on-one appointments with an accredited exercise physiologist throughout the duration of the service. Appointments will be held at Bombala Community Centre on a monthly basis.
The free Wellness Coaching Service is facilitated by the Health Promotion team at Grand Pacific Health and is free for all participants.
