We are looking for anyone that might be able to volunteer
- Delegate Pony Club spokesperson
A spokesperson for Delegate Pony Club said club members were quite excited to be having a gymkhana this year as it had been a number of years since the club had held one.
This is the first Delegate Pony Club gymkhana that has been held since 2000 and club members are looking forward to Sunday’s events.
The Collins Shield is a trophy that was first presented in 1964 and will go to the highest point scorer on the day for Zone 18 members.
The trophy was donated by Stan Collins and will be presented to the winner by Stan Collins’ family members on the day of the gymkhana.
One of the founding members of Delegate Pony Club, Ken Summerill will present the Ken Summerill trophy to a Delegate Pony Club member that has attended three gymkhanas in Zone 18 and has the three highest point scores.
The last winner of the Ken Summerill trophy was Andrew Reed, while Sinead Filtness and Melynda Walker are previous winners of the Collins Shield.
Sunday’s gymkhana will feature a number of events including riding class, flag race, bending race, western pole bend, barrel race, the Delegate Stockman’s Challenge and showjumping.
All events will run according to the PCANSW Sporting and Campdraft Rules and camping including toilets and showers will be allowed free of charge on the showground.
A spokesperson for Delegate Pony Club said the club would love for people to come along and watch the weekend events.
“We are inviting people to come along and watch the day’s events and are also looking for anyone that might be able to volunteer their help,” the spokesperson said.
