I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable week. It’s great to see snow falling ahead of the start of the winter period. It promises to be another big season and I’m sure business operators across the region are preparing to capture the influx of visitors.

At last week’s council meeting I adopted the $14million Stronger Communities Fund – Major Projects Program. There are 100 exciting community projects on the list and this represents unprecedented investment in the Snowy Monaro region.
There is a two-year time frame for these projects to be delivered and I’m looking forward to seeing plenty of work taking place across the region.
Last Friday, I joined Member for Monaro and Deputy Premier John Barilaro, and council staff to help open the redeveloped Cooma Lions Park. There was a great turnout for the official opening with Lions Park now home to a leash free dog area, adventure playground and improved seating options. This family-friendly space even has a flying fox that John and I tested out. It’s worth the visit just for the flying fox!
The Cooma Lions Club deserves a very big congratulations for their hard work in turning the space into a leading recreational area. Be sure to check out Lions Park, located on the corner of Mittagang Rd and Yallakool Rd.
Council is continuing to run its series of community visioning forums to help form our Community Strategic Plan. We are undertaking extensive community consultation to put this together and I’d love for you to head along to have your say on the region’s future.
