On Saturday the Bombala Blue Heelers Rugby League Football Club headed down the mountain to take on Bega in round 9 of the Group 16 Rugby League competition.

The High Heelers ladies league tag women were prepared for a tough battle against the Bega Chicks but came out winning their game 16 to 6 while the Bombala first grade men were determined to continue their good form, beating the Roosters 42 to 20.
The Blue Heelers took to the field under lights ready for what was going to be a great physical game.
Three minutes in Wame Belolevu burst through Bega’s defenders to find the line for first points followed eight minutes later by Paul Perkins from dummy half linking up with Nick Ryan who offloaded to Bailey Jones who slipped past Bega to score under the posts.
Three minutes later Belolevu flicked the ball to winger Alex Rosten who strode away to score and at 16 to 0 the Heelers had all the momentum.
Tyler Jones was able to score again off the back of a great Robinson run and the score was 22 to 0.
In the 30th minute it was Tyler Jones who once again timed a perfect intercept to run 90m, scoring under the posts and the Bombala lads led 28 to 0.
However as the Heelers were winding down coming into half time Bega capitalised on an overlap and scored bringing the half time score to 28 to 6.
After halftime the Heelers seemed to start off just as weary as they were finishing the first half and after defending multiple sets back to back they eventually allowed Bega to score twice more and the score was 28 to 16.
The Heelers eventually found their rhythm with the next points coming with Andrew Guthrie offloading to Joe Bobin who strode away linking up with a flying Zac Slater who scored for the Heelers.
Tyler Jones raked in another intercept to stride away and score final points for the Heelers 42-16.
The Heelers conceded one more try by the Roosters but won the game beating the Bega team with a convincing 42 to 20 score.
Players player and three points went to Adam Rodwell, two points to Tyler Jones and one point to Blake Robinson.
It was a competitive clash for the High Heelers against the Bega Chicks with both teams taking to the field ready for a tough battle, but it was the Heelers that took to the shed in front 10 to 6 at half time.
After the break the game was tightly contested with the Heelers forced to defend their line on multiple occasions with Bega being awarded back to back penalties.
Eventually the Heelers gained further points through Monique Perkins who was able to break the Bega defensive line to score under the posts and with Keiarna Rodwell’s successful conversion the Heelers won 16 to 6. Players player and three points to Patrice Clear, 2 points to Kristy Nichols and one point to Abbey Kimber.
