The open day is planned for Saturday, June 17 between 10am and 3pm at the court house and everyone is invited.
Bombala and District Historical Society president Stuart Hood said that the aim of the day was to show off what the society has in their possession.
“The general public generally don’t know the resources that the historical society has available.
“We have historical photos, maps of the sales of Mahratta and Bibbenluke as well as a lot of Burnima Station Records and a diary from HT Edwards which are all very interesting because HT was a meticulous record keeper,” he said.
The historical society has picked up a lot of memorabilia and old photos over the years.
“We have a lot of old photos that we don’t know the names of so we would be happy to have people come along that might be able to held identify the photos,” Mr Hood said.
“We will have historical society people there on the day to help point you in the right direction.
“In our collection we have quite a few books about local family trees, like the Groves family who came out to Australia and build the Craigie Church in the 1800’s.
“We also have a beautiful silver cup awarded to the three mile bike ride from the 1913 Easter Monday sports games. A cup like this one would cost an arm and a leg these days,” he said.
“We will also have information gathered about the buildings on the recent street walk.”
