The collective – Balunn Jones, Ben Tillman and Adam Smith – have received a $15,000 NSW Government boost to create the Yours and Owls Virtual Reality app.
Mr Jones said the app would “capture the sound and energy of the concert experience”.
“There’s about six or seven concerts that we’re in the process of looking at to potentially live stream between October and March next year and any one of those would work well,” he said.
“We’ve developed the app for iOS and Android and as soon as the new version is finished it will be up on Occulus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. The bands are stoked about the technology and we want to take it as far as we can.”
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward said the extra funding was through the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) grant program which aims to assist startups to scale into high-growth, job-creating companies of tomorrow.
“Grants are available to help with customer feedback and testing for startups that are yet to generate revenue, and the grants offer funding of up to 50 per cent of approved project costs to a maximum of $25,000 per project,” Mr Ward said.
