Incident Controller Stephen Young said the movement of fires overnight is likely to pose some challenges for roads and recreation sites in the area today and into the weekend.
“The Cann River-Mueller Road fire is now greater than 2,500 hectares and has the potential to impact a number of roads and camping spots.
“If you are planning a weekend away, there are still many parts of far east Gippsland well and truly still open for business.
“However we have asked a number of campers around the Wingan Inlet, Point Hicks, Tamboon, Tamboon South, Peachtree Creek Reserve, Mueller, Thurra, Furnell and Choof Choof sites to re-locate elsewhere, given the potential fire spread and its possible impact on roads and access.
“Please keep an eye and ear out for the latest fire information and safely plan your travel around the region.
“We will continue to keep you informed throughout the day via various channels” said Mr Young.
People should also tune in to their emergency broadcasters: ABC Local Radio, commercial radio and designated community radio stations or SKY NEWS Television.
