Club officials say the strong presence is no doubt due to prawns running from Wallagoot Lake.
There are also lots of slimy mackerel bait fish and reports of good snapper of the rocks from Short Point around to Long Point and at Hunter Rock. The same for North Head out of Eden. Australian salmon, flathead, gummies, snapper and morwong are all active.
Good size Kingfish are reporting from south of Eden around Mowarry Point.
Australian salmon are coming from the beaches; try Dolphin Cove, Tura Beach, Haycock and Aslings Beach. Anglers are getting good results off the rocks out from Bar Beach where salmon and tailor congregate at the lake entrance towards the top of the tide.
There remain swarms of trevally and the occasional Australian salmon at the Merimbula Wharf, active on the run out tide. Soft plastics are working well everything from 8cm Nuclear Chicken to Minnow Smelts. For trevally and luderick try the Spencer Park jetty on the run out tide. Artificial weed is working for the luderick and soft plastics for the trevally plus the occasional bream and dusky flathead.
Merimbula Lake is firing with shoals of large trevally all the way up the channel and in the Top Lake. There are also lots of tailor; look for bird activity and beneath a bust-up you may get snapper, bream and dusky flathead. Some lovely king george whiting and butterfly gurnard are also coming from the Top Lake.
Pambula Lake remains a go to location with good trevally, tailor a few Australian salmon and dusky Flathead. Try around the shark hole and the upper channel. Use pilchard baits, pumped nippers and soft plastics.
Fishing in the Bega River remains poor due to the muddy waters and debris. Try at Mogareeka for bream, tailor, trevally and dusky flathead.
